Well, I haven't weighed in a few days. I had to take our scale up to work to weigh everyone for our work weight loss contest. Mine were the only scales that went up high enough for me. We have 17 people in the contest. Everyone puts in $10. We weighed in on Friday. We will weigh in again April 1. Whoever loses the most percentage of weight will take all the winnings. If I win, I think I'll take everyone out for ice cream! Anyway, the scales are still at work in case anyone else joins us a few days late. I'll get them back home soon and continue my quest for 2 pounds per week!

Well, 3 days of backsliding will not help you accomplish your goals. This morning I weighed in at 352.8, so I'm up a little. You guessed it, I did some munching at night and ate things I knew I shouldn't. Back to the grind.
Now I have additional incentive. At work, we're starting a weight loss club. We will weigh in tomorrow. On April 1, we will weigh in again. We will pay $0.50 for every pound we lose. Whoever loses the most on a percentage basis will win the pot. That's not the best way to do it, but we haven't thought of a better way.

Stardate 20100104 - Well, my first weekend is over and I didn't mess up too much. Saturday, I was visiting with my family. We do love our food, but I didn't totally pig out and ended up losing a little. Sunday, we went to El Fenix, one of my favorite places. I had more than my share of their wonderful chips and dip, but then I ate chicken fajitas and didn't order my usual sopapilla. This morning I weighed 350.6 so I've lost 9 pounds, a little each day. I hope it's easier to not eat poorly while I'm at work. Today I successfully avoided the McDonald's McChicken sandwich and Chicken Snack Wraps on the way home. Bully for me. I hope it shows up tomorrow on the scale.

Well, I didn't do well yesterday. I was at my family's New Year's get together and I ate all day long. I tried to not eat a lot of high calorie stuff, but I showed very little self-control. It wasn't all bad though, I weighed 353.0 this morning, so I was still down some.

1st Day Success
I know the first pounds are the easiest to lose, but it is still nice to lose them. This morning I weighed in at 354.8. If I can lose 5 lbs a day, I will reach my goal for the year in 21 days!

It Starts
Captain's log. Stardate 20100101. I'm taking high blood pressure medication, I'm in the early stages of adult onset diabetes, I have to wear a brace to walk. Do you see very many really fat men over 65 years old? I don't. That being the case, I have less than 15 years left to live since I just turned 50. Something has to change and I have to be the one to do it.
This is my blog. I'm going to lose 2 pounds each week in the year 2010. If I do that, I will nearly be down to 250 by next New Year's Day. That's right. I weighed in at 359.6 pounds this morning. I'm closer to 400 than 300. My clothes don't fit. I can't sit at a table at most fast food restaurants. That means I usually get my fat - I mean fast - food to go and eat it in my car. That way, I can have it eaten before I get home, so I can eat supper at home. Then I have my snack and later have ice cream before I go to bed.
I can't figure out how I got so fat.
To lose 2 pounds each week, I figure I have to burn 1000 more calories than I eat each day. At caloriecount.about.com it calculated that I burn 3050 calories per day. I used Male, 50 years old, weighing 359, 6'1" tall, with a sedentary life style.
That means I can only eat 2050 calories per day.
On a day when I splurge and eat one of my cravings (i.e. ice cream, Big Mac, cookies) I have to walk or exercise enough to offset the calories taken in.
